PRINCETON, N.J. – The Harvard women's volleyball team (9-5, 4-1 Ivy) fell for the first time in conference play at Princeton (12-3, 5-0 Ivy) on Saturday night. The Tigers were dominant, taking sets one and two by wide margins but a late rally from Harvard challenged Princeton's grip on the match in set three. The Tigers were able to punch in the final points to end an eight-match win streak for the Crimson. 

Match Highlights

• Captain Christina Cornelius led the team with nine kills.
• Maclaine Fields will improve her overall hitting percentage this week, registering .364 tonight on six kills with just two errors in 11 attempts.
• Christina Cornelius, Paige Kebe and Maclaine Fields each added a block to the Crimson defense.
• Anna Uhr averaged three digs per set, well above her 2.73 season average prior to the match. 

Set One

• The Tigers jumped to a 9-4 lead to open the match.
• On the back of Nnenna Ibe, Princeton charged to a 20-10 advantage.
• The Crimson continued to struggle against the Princeton attack, falling 25-12 in set one. 

Set Two

• Harvard opened set three with a 3-0 run, led by Maclaine Fields and Jocelyn Meyer
• Christina Cornelius and Maclaine Fields continued to support the Harvard attack, maintaining the lead through 10-9.
• Princeton upped its game, taking a 16-11 lead.
• The Tigers continued the pressure, taking set two 25-13. 

Set Three

• Princeton again came out of the gates with all cylinders going, charging to a 5-1 advantage.
• Harvard kept pace, as the Crimson closed the gap to 10-7.
• Kills from Christina Cornelius and Jocelyn Meyer gave the Crimson some momentum at 13-11.
• Despite a valiant effort to tie the score at 14, 15 and 16, Harvard was unable to hold off the Tiger offense that secured the match with a 25-21 set three win. 

What's Next?
The Crimson will return to the Malkin Athletic Center for a two-match set next weekend. The slate includes a Friday night matchup against Brown and a Saturday evening contest with Yale.
