Freshman Saadeldin Abouaish prevailed in his match at No. 1, winning two close games to help the Crimson defeat No. 7 Yale (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 2 Harvard men's squash team rolled to an 8-1 victory over No. 7 Yale in the opening round of the CSA Team Championship at the Murr Center Squash Courts on Friday afternoon. The Crimson will now square off with No. 3 Columbia in the semifinal round tomorrow at noon.
Harvard (12-1, 7-0 Ivy) took down the Bulldogs (8-7, 5-2 Ivy) for the second-straight match, previously handing Yale a 5-4 defeat to clinch the Ivy League championship on Feb. 12. The Crimson has won its last three matches since its lone loss of the season to No. 1 Trinity, 5-4, on Feb. 8.
The Crimson dominated with 3-0 decisions in all eight winning matches to earn the decisive victory. Senior captains Bryan Koh and Devin McLaughlin set the tone for Harvard, sweeping at the No. 7 and No. 9 positions. Senior Dylan Murray also controlled his match at No. 8 with a 3-0 win.
Juniors Madhav Dhingra and David Ryan took care of business in their matches at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. The three Harvard rookies, Saadeldin Abouiash, Timothy Brownell and Sean Hughes all impressed in their matches with 3-0 decisions as well.
