CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Kicking off the season in New Rochelle, N.Y. this Sunday, Jan. 27, the No. 18 Harvard women's water polo team opens play at 9 a.m. with host Iona before tackling a 12:30 p.m. contest against Villanova. The Crimson looks to start the season in the win column after being tabbed second in the Collegiate Water Polo Association conference preseason poll behind Michigan.

The Crimson returns ten members from last season, including ACWPC All-America Honorable Mention and All-CWPA second team selection, Kristen Hong. During her 2018 stretch, Hong notched 71 goals, 40 assists and steals. Fresh faces to the program include attackers Borden Wahl and Evan Tingler, utility Grace Thawley, goaltender Zoe Banks and defender Inde Halligan.
At the wheel for the Crimson in his ninth season, The Friends of Water Polo Head Coach and James Herscot '58 Coach of Excellence, Ted Minnis led the women to a 17-19 record for the 2018 season with victories over six ranked opponents.

- The Crimson saw an 18-12 victory the last time the squad faced Villanova. Sam Acker tabbed nine saves, four assists and a pair of steals.
- Last time the Gaels and the Crimson squared off, Harvard took home a 15-7 win. Hong tallied five goals while Mathilde Ribordy, Sofia Carrera-Justiz and Olivia Price each tallied three of their own.
