Andrew Berry '09 Named Cleveland Browns General Manager

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Former Harvard cornerback Andrew Berry '09 has been named the general manager of the Cleveland Browns. At 32 years old, Berry is the youngest general manager in NFL history. Berry was Cleveland's vice president of player personnel from 2016-18 and will head back to the organization after serving as the vice president of football operations for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019.

"Andrew Berry was one of the best defensive backs in Harvard and Ivy League history," said Tim Murphy,  The Thomas Stephenson Family Head Coach for Harvard Football. "But more importantly his work ethic, leadership ability and overall character were off the charts."

Prior to his first stint with the Browns, Berry was hired by the Indianapolis Colts in 2009 as a scouting assistant and was promoted to a pro scout in 2011. He then spent his last four seasons with the Colts as their pro scouting coordinator.

During his time at Harvard, Berry was a four-year letterwinner garnering first-team All-Ivy League honors his sophomore, junior and senior year, and was selected as a Sports Network Third-Team All-American in 2008. Berry also excelled in the classroom as he was a two-time first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American ('07, '08) and an academic All-Ivy League selection in 2008.

Following his senior campaign, Berry was tabbed the FCS Athletic Directors Scholar-Athlete of the Year, National Football Foundation (NFF) National Scholar-Athlete of the year, an Athletes For A Better World John Wooden Citizenship Cup finalist, and a National Football Foundation Draddy Award finalist.

Berry, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in computer science within his four years, helped Harvard to a 31-9 overall record and a 22-6 Ivy League mark over his four years, capturing the Ivy League title in 2007 and 2008.
