Isabella Gomez completed a dazzling fall campaign, seniors
Chloe Royston and
Anina Ku made it three Crimson inside the top-10 and Harvard women's golf placed second at the UD Lady Blue Hen Invitational this weekend, Oct. 16-17.
The Crimson completed the 54-hole event with a team total of 38-over-par, taking runner-up in the 12-team field at Rehoboth Beach Country Club, the team's highest finish of the fall season. Princeton won the tournament at 27-over-par.
For the fourth time in as many events, Gomez posted the top individual score for Harvard, shooting 7-over on the weekend to tie for third. Royston (+8, T7) and Ku (+9, T10) were also top-10 finishers for the first time this season. Sophomore
Meiyi Yan tied for 21st at 14-over-par, while first-year
Catie Schernecker was tied for 61st at 30-over. Sophomore
Yoona Kim, competing as an individual this weekend, tied for 25th at 15-over-par.
Harvard Highlights
- Royston carded 12 birdies on the weekend to lead the entire field. The South Africa native broke par six-times during the final round, the most in a single round for any Crimson golfer this season.
- Gomez and Royston tied for second in par 4 scoring average at 4.07 for the tournament.
- Gomez wraps up the fall with a team best scoring average of 73.58. Her T3 finish marks the first top-five of her collegiate career.
- Gomez, Royston, Ku and Yan were counting scores for Harvard in all three rounds.
Tournament Notes:
- Princeton's Tiffany Kong took low-individual honors with a 54-hole total of 5-over-par.
- Harvard finished second among three Ivy League teams in the field.
- Rehoboth Beach Golf Club played at 6,169 yards as a par 72.
