HANOVER, N.H. – The Harvard women's hockey team (1-0-0, 1-0-0 ECAC Hockey) scored four unanswered goals to top Dartmouth (0-1-0, 0-1-0 ECAC Hockey) in its season opener in Hanover, N.H.
During the opening frame, Harvard outshot Dartmouth 10-4 despite the Big Green cashing in on a close range wrister to take a 1-0 lead at 14:28. Harvard spent the last minute of the period on a 5-on-3 power-play but was unable to convert.
Nearly midway through the second, a lengthy penalty review resulted in a game misconduct for the Big Green, putting the Crimson on the power-play for another five minutes. With two minutes remaining on the major penalty, Dartmouth took another minor penalty, giving Harvard more 5-on-3 play time. At 11:35
Maryna Macdonald rattled off the first goal, on the power-play, of the 2021-22 campaign to even the score at 1-1. Not five minutes later,
Keely Moy scored a highlight reel goal, drawing the Big Green goalie out of the net before swinging the puck behind the netminder's skate and into the net. The goal was Moy's 25th career strike.
Just 3:28 into the third, Moy chipped in another score to extend the Crimson's lead to 3-1, short-handed from
Brooke Jovanovich. At 16:51 Jovanovich notched a goal of her own on the power-play to seal Harvard's 4-1 victory.
