CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Battling to five sets in front of a packed Malkin Athletic Center, the Harvard women's volleyball team (8-9, 5-3 Ivy League) pulled out a 3-2 win over Dartmouth (10-7, 2-6 Ivy League) tonight, Oct. 23. The Crimson bested the Big Green by set scores of 25-21, 16-25, 26-25, 14-25 and 16-14.
Junior
Jaimie Rao and sophomore
Katie Vorhies led the Crimson attack tonight. Rao posted a team-high 15 kills, while Vorhies joined the captain in double figures with 13. The Crimson saw depth from its underclassmen tonight as well, with
Corinne Furey (eight),
Olivia Cooper (seven) and
Nicole Prescott (seven) each contributed kills to Harvard's offensive efforts. Sophomore
Bella Almanza nearly tied her career high in assists, dishing out 27, while first-year
Rocky Aguirre recorded 17.
Defensively, first-year
Lindsey Zhang led the backcourt with 19 digs, while Prescott joined her in double-digits with 11. Both Almanza and Aguirre nearly registered double-doubles, adding nine digs each to their tallies. At the net, Cooper and Rao each put up a team-best five blocks.
