CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In front of a packed Malkin Athletic Center, the Harvard women's volleyball team (9-9, 6-3 Ivy League) swept league-leading Princeton (13-4, 7-1 Ivy League) tonight, Oct. 29, on home court. The Crimson earned the 3-0 win by set scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-20.
Junior co-captain
Jaimie Rao and sophomore
Katie Vorhies led the way for the Crimson attack tonight, each posting double-digit kills. Rao knocked down 14, while Vorhies posted 10. Sophomore
Olivia Cooper registered a team-best .500 hitting percentage off of seven kills and zero errors. Sophomore
Bella Almanza dished out a team-high 23 assists with support from first-year
Rocky Aguirre who contributed 16 to connect Harvard on 47 total kills on the night.
In the backcourt,
Lindsey Zhang tallied 13 digs, while Almanza and sophomore
Nicole Prescott each added eight apiece. Sophomore
Ava Rauser dominated at the net, putting up four blocks. Sophomore
Ashley Wang, Rao and Cooper each added two blocks as well.
Harvard Highlights
- Tonight's win was the first straight-set victory of the year for the Crimson.
- Harvard defeated Princeton for the first time on home court since 2018.
- The Crimson held the Tigers to a .000 hitting percentage in set two.
- Harvard recorded seven service aces compared to the Tigers' three.
