CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 10/10 Harvard women's hockey team (3-1-0, 2-1-0 ECAC Hockey) was clipped 5-4 in overtime by No. 5/4 Colgate (10-2-0, 2-0-0 ECAC Hockey) on Saturday afternoon at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
Harvard clawed back from two goal deficits twice to force the extra period but Colgate managed to grab a power-play score at 1:08 of the extra frame to secure the win.
Both teams went scoreless until 18:04 of the first period when Colgate took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Early in the second, the Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 at 5:42.
Keely Moy would answer at 18:52 of the middle frame to put the Crimson within one.
The final period saw five goals scored beginning with
Emma Buckles at 2:46 to tie the score at two. Colgate chipped back with scores at 9:08 and 9:27 to go up 4-2 before
Dominique Petrie and
Kristin Della Rovere found the back of the net to force extra time. With Harvard having taken a penalty late in regulation, Colgate began the overtime period on the power-play, allowing it to capitalize with the extra attacker.
