NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Battling the Bulldogs to five sets, the Harvard women's volleyball team (6-7, 3-1 Ivy League) took down Yale (9-4, 2-2 Ivy League) 3-2 on the road tonight, Oct. 8. With the win, the Crimson moved one spot above the Bulldogs in the league standings to third place with a 3-1 conference record. Harvard topped Yale by set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 19-25 and 15-11.
Sophomore
Katie Vorhies racked up a team-high 15 kills against the Bulldogs. First-years
Nicole Prescott and
Corinne Furey nearly joined Vorhies in double figures with nine and eight kills, respectively. Sophomore
Bella Almanza dished out 22 assists, while first-year
Rocky Aguirre contributed 16 to connect Harvard on 51 total kills on the night.
A trio of Crimson players notched double-digit digs tonight, including first-year
Lindsey Zhang (16), Prescott (13) and first-year
Teia Piette (12). At the net, Harvard totaled 10 blocks. Sophomore
Ariana White led the way with three blocks, while sophomore
Olivia Cooper, junior co-captain
Jaimie Rao, Furey and Vorhies each put up two.
Harvard Highlights
- The Crimson tallied 11 service aces, with three apiece from Almanza and Prescott.
- Harvard held Yale to under a .155 hitting percentage in four out of five sets, including a match low .091 clip in set one.
- The Crimson defeated Yale for the first time on the road since 2017.
