Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

No. 6/10 Men's Ice Hockey Suffers 6-2 Setback at Clarkson

POTSDAM, NY – Senior captain Casey Dornbach scored twice, but No. 6/10 Harvard men's ice hockey (4-2-0, 3-1-0 ECAC Hockey) fell 6-2 to Clarkson (5-4-1, 1-2-0 ECAC Hockey) on Friday night (Nov. 12) at Cheel Arena.

The Crimson led 1-0 after the opening 20 minutes, but Clarkson scored four second period goals to take control of the contest.

Dornbach's second goal of the game on a delayed penalty at 7:42 of the third period cut the lead to 4-2, but the Crimson could not score on the ensuing power play.

Two more goals by Clarkson, one on a power play and another with Harvard's net empty for an extra attacker, sealed the win for the Golden Knights.

Harvard got off to a flying start when first-year forward Alex Laferriere made a nifty pass in the slot to Dornbach for a tap-in goal at 4:24 of the first period.

Clarkson tied it early in the second period on a fluky bounce. A dump-in off the corner boards popped right back in front of the net after Harvard goaltender Mitchell Gibson went to play the puck, giving the Golden Knights an empty-net that Alex Campbell found at 1:36 to tie the game at 1-1.

Goals by Mathieu Gosselin (6:12), and George Grannis (9:56) followed minutes later to put the Golden Knights in front by two. A late power play goal for Clarkson made it a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
