ITHACA, N.Y. – Harvard University women's swimming and diving topped Cornell University, 213-87, and Dartmouth College, 192-107, in an Ivy League tri meet on Saturday at Ithaca College's Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
In its second weekend of competition in 2021-22, the Crimson (4-0, 3-0 Ivy) remained undefeated with its victories over the host Big Red (2-1, 1-1 Ivy) and the Big Green (0-4, 0-4 Ivy) behind 12 event wins, 10 second-place showings, and eight third-place finishes.
In the swimming events, senior
Felicia Pasadyn (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) and first-year
Molly Hamlin (50 freestyle, 200 backstroke) each won two individual events. Pasadyn and Hamlin both helped the Crimson win the 200-medley relay while Pasadyn also aided in the victory in the 400-freestyle relay. On the boards, senior
Morgane Herculano won both 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
Junior
Marcella Ruppert-Gomez (1,000 free) and first-years
Erin Cavanagh (100 breast),
Maggie Buckley (200 breast), and
Aleksandra Denisenko (200 IM) all added individual event wins.
Harvard Highlights
- In the 200-yard medley relay, Harvard's "A" and "B" teams took the top two spots. The "A" relay of sophomore Addie Rose Bullock, first-year Aleksandra Denisenko, senior Felicia Pasadyn, and first-year Molly Hamlin came in first with a time of 1:44.52. The "B" relay of junior Athena Ye, junior Alison Hu, junior Darlene Fung, and first-year Mandy Brenner followed in 1:46.69.
- Junior Marcella Ruppert-Gomez captured the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:27.07 while first-year Carlie Rose placed third in 10:35.36.
- Senior Felicia Pasadyn won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.50, and sophomore Addie Rose Bullock came in third in 1:53.01. Pasadyn also won the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.15) with senior Mikki Thompson placing second in the event (5:05.92).
- First-year Erin Cavanagh claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.43 while junior Alison Hu placed third in 1:07.66.
- First-year Molly Hamlin won the 50-yard freestyle behind a time of 23.82 and took the 200-yard backstroke in 2:02.99. Sophomore Addie Rose Bullock came in second in the 200 back (2:03.45).
- Senior Morgane Herculano won both 3-meter diving (295.80) and 1-meter diving (278.40). Senior Georgina Milne placed second in 3-meter diving with a 291.55 while first-year Katie Laverty came in second in 1-meter diving (270.90).
- First-year Maggie Buckley won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:21.37 with fellow first-year Erin Cavanagh following in second (2:25.20).
- Harvard went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard individual medley behind first-year Aleksandra Denisenko (2:04.75), first-year Maggie Buckley (2:05.57), and sophomore Kate Hazlett (2:07.54).
- The Crimson claimed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:28.58 behind the efforts of senior Felicia Pasadyn, first-year Erin Cavanagh, junior Alison Hu, and sophomore Addie Rose Bullock.
- In the 200-yard butterfly, senior Mikki Thompson (2:07.01) and first-year Aleksandra Denisenko (2:07.16) finished second and third.
- In the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Victoria Eisenhauer (57.89) and first-year Mandy Brenner (58.35) came in second and third respectively. Brenner added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (57.23).
- Harvard improved to 36-1 all-time vs. Cornell.
- The Crimson bettered its all-time mark against Dartmouth to 41-3.
