CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard football team earned 12 all-Ivy League accolades, including eight on the first team, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Earning first-team all-Ivy honors were senior offensive lineman
Spencer Rolland, junior running back
Aaron Shampklin (unanimous selecton) defensive linemen
Chris Smith and
Jacob Sykes, senior linebackers
Jordan Hill and
Jack McGowan, sophomore cornerback
Alex Washington and junior kicker
Jonah Lipel. The eight first-team honorees are the most since the Crimson had nine in 2015. Rolland was also tabbed to the Academic All-Ivy League team.

Offense
Spencer Rolland, OL – Started all 10 games, helping the offense average 32.4 points and 162.3 rushing yards … Semifinalist for the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy … CoSIDA Academic All-District selection ... Academic All-Ivy League.
Aaron Shampklin, RB – Started all nine games he appeared in … Led the Ivy League with 93.6 rushing yards per game and 106.6 all-purpose yards per game … Rushed for a career-high 11 touchdowns … Also caught 16 passes for 117 yards and one touchdown … Surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards and finished with 2,258 yards, seventh-most in school history … Scored 23 rushing touchdowns in his career, tied for seventh-most … Was an all-Ivy first-team honoree and all-New England selection in 2018 when he also led the Ivy League in rushing.
Defense
Chris Smith, DL – Started all 10 games … Finished the season with 40 tackles, including 5.0 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks … Forced two fumbles and had three quarterback hurries.
Jacob Sykes, DL – Started all 10 games … Had 27 tackles, including 8.0 tackles for a loss and a team-best 7.0 sacks … Forced one fumble and had two quarterback hurries … Helped Harvard lead the nation in rush defense (64.6 yards per game) and finish second in sacks (3.8).
Jordan Hill, LB – Started all 10 games … Led the team in tackles for the third-straight season, finishing with 72 stops ... Also had 5.5 tackles for a loss, 1.0 sacks, four pass breakups and two quarterback hurries … Team captain … Was also a first-team all-Ivy selection in 2019 and a second-teamer in 2018.
Jack McGowan, LB – Started all 10 games … Was third on the team with 50 tackles, adding 7.0 tackles for a loss and 1.0 sacks … Made two interceptions, broke up four passes and had two quarterback hurries.
Alex Washington, CB – Started all nine games he appeared in … Led the team with four interceptions … Had 17 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, 2.0 sacks and two pass breakups.
Special Teams
Jonah Lipel, K – Started all 10 games … Set Harvard's single-season record with 15 field goals, going 15-of-19 on the year … Set a career-high for distance with two 47-yard field goals at Yale … Was 39-of-40 on PAT attempts … Finished with 84 points, tied for the sixth-most in a season in school history … Averaged 59.1 yards on kickoffs and had 45 touchbacks.
All-Ivy League Second Team
Offense
Aidan Borguet, RB – Played in 10 games, starting one … Averaged 60.2 yards per game and had eight rushing touchdowns … Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2019.
Defense
Nate Leskovec, DL – Started all 10 games … Finished with 37 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks … Posted six quarterback hurries, recovered one fumble and broke up one pass.
James Herring, S – Started all 10 games … Was second on the team with 69 tackles … Blocked two punts and intercepted three passes … Also broke up five passes and had 1.5 tackles for a loss.
