Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

No. 10/RV Women’s Hockey Skates Past New Hampshire, 3-2

DURHAM, N.H. – Paige Lester scored the first goal of her collegiate career, Keely Moy lit the lamp in her return to the ice and The Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Hockey, Katey Stone defeated her alma mater as No. 10/RV Harvard (7-3-0, 4-3-0 ECAC Hockey) hung on for a 3-2 victory over New Hampshire (3-8-2, 3-7-1 Hockey East) on Tuesday night at the Whittemore Center.

A 1-0 contest entering the third period heated up over the last 20 minutes with each team scoring twice in the final frame. In the end, the Crimson was able to do enough to earn its third non-conference win of the season and head to Thanksgiving break on a two-game win streak.

At 15:08 in the opening period, Harvard struck first when first-year forward, Paige Lester, chased down a stretch pass from Brooke Jovanovich before snapping a shot top shelf from the right circle for the first goal of her collegiate career.

Neither team was able to muster a goal in the second period despite quality chances on both ends of the ice. Becky Dutton made several key saves for Harvard, including a sprawling robbery with the glove on New Hampshire's Jada Christian with just over four minutes to go in the second period.

It did not take long for the action to escalate in the third period. At 4:22, Becca Gilmore notched her team-best seventh goal of the season to extend Harvard's lead to two. Just over three minutes later, however, New Hampshire's Nicole Kelly got her team on the board on the breakaway, cutting the margin to one. Then, with under five minutes remaining in the game, senior Keely Moy scored a huge insurance goal for the Crimson, capitalizing on a rebound off a shot from Dominique Petrie by elevating a backhand over the goaltender's shoulder. The Wildcats made a late push with the extra-attacker on the ice when Christian scored with 1:29 left in the contest. UNH was unable to find the equalizer, however, and Harvard skated off with the victory.
