Women’s Volleyball Takes Final Road Trip to Columbia and Cornell

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team (9-10, 6-4 Ivy League) will travel to Columbia and Cornell this weekend, Nov. 5-6, for its final two road contests of the regular season. The Crimson will match up against the Lions on Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m., before taking on the Big Red on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
What to Know
- Harvard went 1-1 last weekend against Princeton and Penn at the Malkin Athletic Center. The Crimson swept the Tigers in three sets on Friday night, its first win over Princeton on home court since 2018. On Saturday night, the Crimson fell to the Quakers in a hard-fought five-set battle, 3-2.
- The Crimson sits at fourth place in the Ivy League standings with a 6-4 conference mark and 9-10 overall record.
- Columbia and Cornell enter the weekend at the bottom of the Ivy League standings, currently tied for seventh place. The Lions and Big Red both have a 2-8 conference mark. Earlier this season, Harvard topped Cornell (3-1) before falling to Columbia (0-3).
- Ashley Wang returned to the lineup last weekend after sitting out due to injury. The sophomore had a dominate performance against Penn, recording 14 kills and 13 assists for her seventh double-double of the season. Wang nearly had a triple-double as well, adding eight digs to her tally.
- Jaimie Rao and Katie Vorhies continue to lead the Crimson attack. Vorhies averages 2.99 kills per set, while Rao is just behind with 2.98 k/s. Vorhies has recorded double-digit kills in 13-straight matches.
- Defensively, Lindsey Zhang has climbed in the Ivy League rankings to seventh in digs per set with 3.54. Zhang registered double-digit digs in back-to-back matches last weekend, with 13 against Princeton and 16 over Penn.

Coaches Corner
Head coach Jennifer Weiss is in the midst of her 29th season at the helm of the Harvard women's volleyball program. Weiss has accumulated a 159-172 Ivy record, has led the Crimson to three Ivy League titles and has guided 82 All-Ivy selections during her tenure.
 
Up Next

Harvard will conclude its regular season at home, Nov. 12-13. The Crimson will take on Brown on Friday at 7 p.m., before facing Yale on Saturday at 5 p.m. for senior night. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPN+.
