PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior linebacker Jordan Hill of the Harvard football team has been chosen as a finalist for the 2021 Asa S. Bushnell Cup, which honors the Ivy League Football Players of the Year.

Hill is a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year Award, along with Princeton junior linebacker Jeremiah Tyler. Brown senior quarterback EJ Perry and Dartmouth senior quarterback Derek Kyler are the finalists for Offensive Player of the Year.

For the 11th-consecutive year, the Ivy League and the National Football Foundation (NFF) are partnering to co-host the presentation of the Asa S. Bushnell Cup, which honors the Ivy League Football Players of the Year as part of the festivities surrounding the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City. 

The Asa. S. Bushnell Cup will be awarded at a special reception and press conference at the famed New York Athletic Club beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET on Monday, Dec. 13. The two offensive and two defensive finalists will be on hand along with their respective head coaches. For everyone attending Monday's Bushnell Cup presentation, the New York Athletic Club has a no exceptions policy on business attire for everyone in attendance. Folks not in appropriate dress will unfortunately be turned away from the venue. 
 
Additionally, proof of vaccination will need to be show upon arrival and masks will be required.

Hill, who hails from Silver Spring, Maryland, was the Crimson's 147th captain and is a three-time All-Ivy League selection. Hill started all 10 games this fall and led the team in tackles for the third-straight season, finishing with 72 stops. A first-team all-Ivy pick in 2021, Hill also had 5.5 tackles for a loss, 1.0 sacks, four pass breakups and two quarterback hurries. Hill helped Harvard lead the nation in rush defense (64.6 yards per game) and finish second in sacks (3.8).

Harvard, which won the last three games of the season, posted an 8-2 overall record and was 5-2 in the Ancient Eight in 2021. The team concluded the season with a 34-31 victory over Yale at the Yale Bowl on Nov. 20.

ASA S. BUSHNELL CUP HISTORY
Presented annually since 1970, The Asa S. Bushnell Cup honors its namesake, a 1921 Princeton alumnus and the commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference from 1938 to 1970. The Bushnell Cup is awarded by a vote of the Ivy League's eight head football coaches to the players who display outstanding qualities of leadership, competitive spirit, contribution to the team and accomplishments on the field.
 
From 1970 to 2010, the Bushnell Cup recognized an Ivy League Player of the Year (or co-Players of the Year if there was a tie in voting). Beginning with the 2010 season, the award was presented as a part of the festivities surrounding the NFF Annual Awards Dinner with four finalists named a week prior to the presentation. Beginning with the 2011 season, the award began recognizing Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, honoring each as a recipient of the Bushnell Cup. Two offensive finalists and two defensive finalists are named with the Players of the Year unveiled at the presentation.

The Bushnell Cup Presentation will follow the NFF's 63rd Annual Awards Dinner presented by Las Vegas on Tuesday, Dec. 7. As the culmination of the regular season, the event provides the stage for the induction of the 2020 and 2021 College Football Hall of Fame Classes and honoring the 2021 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class presented by Fidelity Investments at the ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN3, beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
