CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former Harvard women's rugby standout Cheta Emba '15 has been selected to represent Team USA as one of 15 selected for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Women's Rugby Team at the second-ever Olympic appearance for rugby sevens in Tokyo, USA Rugby announced today (June 17).
Emba is the first Harvard women's rugby player to compete at the Olympic Games. A dual-sport athlete at Harvard, Emba has competed with USA Rugby for the past four years, making several World Rugby 7s and Rugby World Cup appearances.
A Rugby Collegiate All-American, Emba was also a standout on the women's soccer team, as a four-year letter winner. Emba holds the Harvard and Ivy League single-season record for goals-against with a 0.14 goals against average in 2013, leading the Crimson to Ivy League titles in 2013 and 2014.
The U.S. rugby team will compete at the Quest for Gold Sevens in Los Angeles from June 25-26, their final competition before heading to Tokyo.
