Women’s Tennis Welcomes Its Class of 2025

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis program will welcome its four-player Class of 2025 to campus this fall, Traci Green, The Shelia Kelly Palandjian Head Coach for Harvard Women's Tennis, announced today.
 
Joining the 19-time Ivy League champions will be Rachel Arbitman, Maxi Duncan, Holly Fischer and Angel You. The highly decorated quartet is set to arrive in The Bay State from three different states with Arbitman, Duncan and You hailing from New York, California and Virginia, respectively. Fischer, meanwhile, will make the trek to America from her hometown of London, England.
 
The foursome is considered the ninth-best recruiting class in the nation, according to TennisRecruiting.net, and is the fourth top-10 class since 2013. Dating back to its 2012 incoming group, Harvard has had 10 straight recruiting classes ranked in the top 23.

Rachel Arbitman
Hewlett, N.Y. (Hewlett High)
Before Harvard:
Earned four varsity letters, while playing No. 1 singles her entire prep career… Served as team captain all four years… Earned the Gold Ball at four USTA tournaments (Indoor Nationals – Singles, Hard Courts Nationals – Doubles, Clay Courts Nationals – Doubles, National Team Championship)… Was a USTA Hard Courts National Singles finalist… Finished in third place at the USTA Clay Courts national event in singles and doubles… Was an ITF doubles champion and four-time National Level 2 singles champion… Earned the National USTA Sportsmanship Award… Recognized as a Blue Chip by TennisRecruiting.net… Won the New York state title in singles and doubles… Claimed the Nassau County championship four times… Named an All-American on three occasions… Helped Hewlett to a conference title in 2017 and 2021… Earned the following academic honors: News 12 Scholar Athlete Award, National Honor Society inductee, AP Scholar Award… Was the lead tenor saxophone in Hewlett's wind ensemble… Served in Hewlett's Color Guard and was a Bulldog Buddy, organizing social events for special needs children… Volunteered at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in the pediatric unit… Organized tennis clinics for special needs children… Tutored children of all ages in core subjects… Lists traveling, running, golfing, music and volunteering among her outside interests.
 
Maxi Duncan
Los Angeles, Calif. (Cal Pac Charter School)
Before Harvard:
Earned a Blue Chip rating and was ranked as high as No. 4 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net… Ranked No. 12 by the website for 2021… Won 16 consecutive matches in 2020, covering a pair of ITA College Circuit Challenges and one UTR pro tournament… Was victorious at the 2016 National Gold Ball Hardcourt event in Peachtree, Georgia (Girls 14 Doubles)… Captured the Gold Ball in doubles for the Girls 16 Spring International Hardcourt event in Los Angeles, California… Competed in the Girls 18 doubles final at the 2019 Clay Court Nationals in Charleston, South Carolina… Won the 2018 Southern California Sectional titles in singles and doubles (Girls 16) in Fountain Valley… Lifted the 2018 Costa Mesa Women's Pro Open trophy in Costa Mesa, California… Held a 2020 WTA doubles ranking (No. 1,349)… Earned a spot on the Cal Pac Honor Roll all four years… Performed leadership mentorship services for the Pete Brown Scholarship Foundation for six years in Los Angeles… Enjoys cooking, reading and painting in her spare time… Father, Gerald, was a three-time MVP for the Cal State San Bernardino men's basketball team and is the school's all-time leading scorer… Gerald also played professional basketball and was a former NBA agent.
 
Holly Fischer
London, England (North London Collegiate)
Before Harvard:
Competed at the No. 1 position for the Great Britain National Tennis Team (U12, U14, U16)… Has won several tournaments, including the 2015 Auray Open Super 12, 2016 14U Bohemia Caiex Cup, 2016 Curro ITF Juniors and 2019 G3 Chandigarh ITF… Was twice a finalist at tournaments in 2016 (Les Petits – Doubles, G3 Curro ITF – Singles) and made a run to the quarterfinal round in singles at the Teen Bolton event… Advanced to the finals of the 2017 Qatar ITF singles bracket… Qualified for the 2018 G1 ITF Lambare semifinals… Earned a quarterfinal bid at the 2019 G3 Burlington singles tournament… Enjoys playing the guitar, reading, playing badminton and fashion.
 
Angel You
Chantilly, Va. (Chantilly High)
Before Harvard:
Earned a five-star rating on TennisRecruiting.net… Ranked as high as No. 51 nationally in the tennis recruiting rankings… No. 1 player in the state of Virginia… Was the top player for the USTA Mid-Atlantic 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s… Advanced to the quarterfinals of the USTA G16 Winter Nationals and the round of 16 for the G18 tournament… Took third place in singles and first in doubles at the USTA National L2… Won the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section Championship… Emerged victorious in multiple Mid-Atlantic singles and doubles section tourneys… Earned a varsity letter all four years, along with making the Honor Roll… Recipient of the 2021 Rho Psi Sports Scholarship… Named an AP Scholar with Honors in 2020… Member of the Math, Music and National Honor Societies… Served as a peer tutor for the Math Honor Society… Volunteered at Hope Chinese School as a teacher assistant… Interests include playing the piano and flute, going on runs, baking, taking long walks with her family and dog, watching Netflix and reading.
