Men’s Squash’s Farag ’14 Wins PSA World Championship

CHICAGO – Harvard University men's squash alumnus Ali Farag '14 won the 2020-21 Professional Squash Association World Championship on Thursday night at the University Club of Chicago's Cathedral Hall, claiming the PSA World Championship title for the second time.
 
Farag became the third Egyptian to win the tournament twice, following a 7-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-4 victory over Mohamed ElShorbagy, which saw him come back from a game down and 7-0 behind in the second.
 
Ranked No. 1 in the world, Farag tallied the 22nd tournament win of his PSA career and third of the 2020-21 PSA World Tour season.
 
A mechanical engineering concentrator at Harvard, Farag won two CSA individual national titles in 2012 and 2014 and helped the Crimson win the 2014 CSA men's team championship. Farag earned First Team All-America three times and gained Ivy League Player of the Year honors three times.
 
The PSA World Squash Championships serve as the individual world championships for squash players. The Professional Squash Association is the governing body for the men's and women's professional squash circuit.
