Women’s Volleyball Opens Conference Play at Dartmouth

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team is set to kick off Ivy League action this Friday, Sept. 24 at Dartmouth after competing in three non-conference tournaments to start the season. The Crimson and Big Green are slated for a 7 p.m. match up in Hanover, N.H. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
What to Know
- The Crimson concluded its final weekend of non-conference competition with two-straight wins over Howard (3-1) and American (3-2). Harvard nearly knocked off No. 13 Oregon, battling the Ducks to five sets after overcoming a two-set deficit.
- Junior co-captain Jaimie Rao leads the Crimson's offense averaging 3.43 kills per set, good for sixth in the Ivy League. Offensive staples Katie Vorhies (2.77 k/s) and Ashley Wang (2.30 k/s) continue to strengthen the Crimson attack heading into Ivy play, topping the lineup in kills per set as well.
- Harvard holds a solid depth of setters in its lineup, with three Crimson players averaging over 4.00 assists per set. Ashley Wang (4.65 a/s), Bella Almanza (4.23 a/s) and Rocky Aguirre (4.19 a/s) have all helped connect Harvard to 12.46 kills per set.
- Defensively, Lindsey Zhang continues to make an impact with a team-best 3.58 digs per set. The first-year climbed the conference rankings to sixth in digs per set after her performances this past weekend.
- The Crimson ranks second in both blocks (2.08) and service aces (1.78) per set in the conference rankings.
- Dartmouth heads into Ivy League play with an 8-1 non-conference record. The Crimson leads the Big Green in its all-time series, 52-24. 
 
Coaches Corner
Head coach Jennifer Weiss is in the midst of her 29th season at the helm of the Harvard women's volleyball program. Weiss has accumulated a 153-168 Ivy record, has led the Crimson to three Ivy League titles and has guided 82 All-Ivy selections during her tenure.

Harvard will continue Ancient Eight action on the road, traveling to Penn and Princeton next weekend, Oct. 1-2. The Crimson will take on the Quakers at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, before facing the Tigers at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
