Alessandro Arlotti played hero, scoring his third career game-winning goal, in Harvard men's soccer's 2-1 double overtime win against Vermont on Friday night at Jordan Field. The Crimson improves to 3-2-1 with one non-conference game remaining before the Ivy League opener while the Catamounts dropped their second in three games to fall to 5-2-1.
Harvard bookended the game with goals, taking an early lead off the boot of
Cornelius Bencsik in the sixth minute with assists from Arlotti and
Duncan Sutherland. It wasn't until the 62nd minute that Vermont struck back, eventually forcing extra time. With less than four minutes remaining in the second overtime period,
Willem Ebbinge fired a cross to
Alessandro Arlotti who chipped the ball inside the crossbar to hand Harvard the thrilling win.
