Women’s Volleyball Continues Road Swing at Penn and Princeton

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team will continue its 11-match road swing at Penn and Princeton this weekend, Oct. 1-2. The Crimson will face Penn at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, before traveling to Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 2 for a 5 p.m. match up. Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
What to Know
- Opening Ivy League action on the road, Harvard picked up its first conference win of the season at Dartmouth last weekend. The Crimson battled the Big Green to five sets to secure a 3-2 victory and move to third place in the Ivy League standings, 1-0 in conference action and 4-6 overall.
- Junior co-captain Jaimie Rao continues to dominate the Crimson's attack, averaging 3.40 kills per set and moving up one spot to rank fifth in the Ivy League. Katie Vorhies (2.93 k/s) and Ashley Wang (2.24 k/s) consistently top the offensive line up as well, providing depth in the Crimson's roster.
- The trio of Ashley Wang (4.83 a/s), Bella Almanza (4.67 a/s) and Rocky Aguirre (4.09 a/s) all average over 4.00 assists per set, connecting Harvard on 12.64 kills per set this season.
- Defensively, first-years Lindsey Zhang and Teia Piette lead the backcourt. Piette, making her debut in a Crimson uniform last weekend, leads the team with 3.60 digs per set. Zhang continues to make an impact as well, averaging 3.45 d/s.
- The Crimson leads the Ivy League in blocks per set (2.22), with the trio of Olivia Cooper (1.12 b/s), Ava Rauser (1.06 b/s) and Ariana White (1.03 b/s) leading the way.
- Princeton enters the weekend at the top of the Ivy League standings with a 7-2 overall record and 1-0 conference mark. Penn sits at the bottom of the League at 3-7 overall and 0-1 in Ancient Eight action.
 
Coaches Corner
Head coach Jennifer Weiss is in the midst of her 29th season at the helm of the Harvard women's volleyball program. Weiss has accumulated a 154-168 Ivy record, has led the Crimson to three Ivy League titles and has guided 82 All-Ivy selections during her tenure.

Harvard will wrap up its road stretch and Yale and Brown next weekend, Oct. 8-9. The Crimson will travel to Yale on Friday, Oct. 8 for a 7 p.m. matchup, before facing Brown on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
