ORONO, Me. – No. 19 Harvard field hockey (2-0) capped off its opening weekend of the 2021 season with a dominant performance against Providence (2-2), earning a 3-0 win over the Friars at UMaine Field Hockey Complex. Sophomore

Olivia Hoover scored second quarter goals just over four minutes apart, and
Avery Donahue added a third-quarter goal for the Crimson, which outshot Providence 19-4 on the day.

Sofia Castore made four saves to earn her second consecutive win and a shutout in net.
Harvard broke the scoreless tie in the second quarter on two quick goals from Berlinghof and Hoover.
First, Berlinghof scored off a nifty feed from first-year
Emily Guckian, a quick pass to the right from five yards out to set up the opening goal at 8:32. Minutes later, Hoover jammed in a rebound at 12:37 to give Harvard a 2-0 lead and put the Crimson in control at the half.
Castore made her best save of the day on an incredible stick stop on a Providence penalty corner in the opening minutes of the third quarter.
Harvard added two straight penalty corners early shortly thereafter, with a golden opportunity on
Mazarine Broze's shot off a deflection in front, but Providence goalkeeper Asia Porter (16 saves) made the stop.
Harvard scored its third of the game when Donahue found a loose ball of an initial shot by senior captain
Mimi Tarrant and scored from in close at 11:35 of the third quarter.
