PRINCETON, N.J. – Opening Ivy League play on the road today, the Harvard women's basketball team (6-7, 0-1 Ivy League) fell to Princeton (8-4, 1-0 Ivy League), 68-50, at Jadwin Gymnasium.
For the fourth-straight game, first-year
Harmoni Turner led the Crimson's offense with 20 points. Junior
McKenzie Forbes and sophomore
Lola Mullaney netted double-digit points as well, with 14 and 10, respectively. Turner notched her second career double-double, posting a team-best 11 rebounds on the defensive end. Senior
Tess Sussman added six boards, while Mullaney grabbed five.
Mullaney got the Crimson on the board first, sinking a triple from the top of the key. Baskets from Mullaney and Turner extended Harvard's early advantage to 7-2 midway through the frame. However, Princeton used a 7-2 run to take its first lead at 12-10 to end the opening quarter.
Lindsey Lawson and
Maggie McCarthy added buckets at the start of quarter two to tie the score at 14-14, before the Tigers took the lead back after an 11-0 run to go up 25-14. The Crimson used an offensive push to cut its deficit to five at 27-22 after its own 8-2 run with baskets from Forbes, Mullaney and Turner. Princeton ended the quarter with four-straight points to take a 31-22 lead into halftime.
Princeton opened the third quarter using a 10-3 run to push its advantage to 43-25. The Tigers' defense kept the Crimson at bay, while a series of free throws extended Princeton's lead to 54-29 heading into the final frame.
Harvard came out of the gates in quarter four on an 8-0 run, fueled by three-straight baskets from Turner. Forbes netted two triples while
Gabby Donaldson added a basket, but Princeton's offensive pressure proved too much to overcome as the Tigers' sealed a 68-50 victory.

The Crimson will conclude its eight-game road stretch next weekend, continuing conference play at Brown and Yale, Jan. 7-8. Harvard will take on the Brown Bears on Friday at 6 p.m., before facing the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
