Women's Rugby Falls to Dartmouth In Final Minute of Play, 31-29

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - It came down to the final minute of play at today's match-up against Harvard and Dartmouth when Dartmouth bounced back in the final minute of play taking the win, 29-31.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Reese Morgan scored the first try of the game and her second of the season.
  • Tiahna Padilla scored the second try with a conversion from Brogan Mior. This is Padilla's sixth try of the season. 
  • Brogan Mior is the lead kicker for the team with the most conversion points, scoring her 10th and 11th conversions of the season. 
  • Achele Agada scored the last try for the Crimson in the first half, with the conversion from Brogan Mior

   

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Crimson came on the field today after two weeks without a game. Today was the Crimson's Senior Day and Pride Game celebration. 
  • Dartmouth is the reigning National Champions and has not lost a game in over 1070 days.
  • Harvard came out very strong in the first half with the majority of ball possession and a very strong defense, only allowing one try. This was the first time Dartmouth had ever trailed in points since 2019. 
  • Harvard led the first half with three trys from Reese Morgan, Tiahna Padilla, and Achele Agada.
  • In the middle of the first half both teams lined up for a scrum, it was Dartmouth's ball that Cassidy Bargell snatched making it a Harvard turnover.
  • In the second half, Dartmouth scored the first try, but Harvard still had a 19-10 lead.
  • Cameron Fields scored the first try for the Crimson in the second half with a conversion from Brogan Mior, 26-10.
  • Dartmouth's offense woke up and scored two trys and conversions making the score 26-24.
  • With seven minutes left on the clock, Harvard fought hard trying to break through with multiple attempts trying to find an opening, but Dartmouth kept a tough defensive line.
  • Shortly after a penalty was called on Dartmouth, Chloe Headland scored a penalty kick from 30 meters away from the uprights. Bringing the score to 29-24 with Harvard still in the lead.
  • Harvard was almost guaranteed to win and trying to run out the clock, but then in the final minute of play with 23 seconds to go Dartmouth scored a try to tie the game at 29-29. Within the final few seconds Dartmouth landed their conversion and won 31-29.

Harvard will hit the road to play Brown next Saturday on Oct. 22 at 11:00 a.m (ESPN+).
