CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard football senior running back Aidan Borguet has been announced as one of 20 additions to the 2022 Walter Payton Award Watch List. The honor is presented annually by Stats Perform to the national offensive player of the year in college football's Division I subdivision.
 
Hailing from Franklinville, New Jersey, Borguet leads the Crimson in rushing with 620 yards and seven touchdowns. The senior heads into Friday night's game vs. Princeton averaging 124.0 yards per game, which ranks third in the FCS and first in the Ivy League.
 
Through five outings, Borguet has eclipsed the 100-yard mark four times, with a season-high 163 yards coming at Cornell. He has also scored at least one touchdown in each game in 2022 and has a pair of two-TD performances (vs. Merrimack College, vs. Holy Cross).
 
Borguet is one of three Ivy League players up for consideration for the Walter Payton Award along with Dartmouth's Nick Howard (QB) and Princeton's Andrei Iosivas (WR).
 
More players can join the watch list during the regular season, and afterwards a national media panel will select the winner. First awarded in 1987, the Payton Award has watched past recipients such as Steve McNair, Tony Romo, Brian Westbrook, Jimmy Garoppolo, Cooper Kupp and Trey Lance move on to the NFL. 
 
Also this season, Stats Perform will present the Buck Buchanan Award (FCS defensive player of the year), Jerry Rice Award (FCS freshman player of the year), Eddie Robinson Award (FCS coach of the year) and FedEx Ground Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
