Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Ties RPI, 3-3

TROY, N.Y. – Harvard women's hockey came away with three points in ECAC play this weekend after battling to another tie, this time with the RPI Engineers by a score of 3-3. The Crimson (1-3-2, 1-3-2 ECAC) got goals from Anne Bloomer, Paige Lester and Gabi Davidson Adams and 36 saves from Alex Pellicci.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Harvard struck first in the contest as Anne Bloomer tipped in a shot from the point off the stick of Kate Kasica. The goal goes down as Bloomer's fourth of the season, while the assist for Kasica goes down as her first career point.
  • RPI tied the score four minutes later with goal and the two sides would go into the first intermission tied at one goal apiece.
  • The Crimson came out firing in the second period, getting another short-handed goal from Paige Lester. While on the penalty kill, Lester stole the puck and broke away from her defender and dangled around the goalie to net a highlight reel backhand goal.
  • Gabi Davidson Adams also added a tally in the period with her third goal of the season. Davidson Adams slammed home the feed from Shannon Hollands and Anne Bloomer to put Harvard up 3-1.
  • RPI fought back with another goal at the tail end of the period to make the score 3-2 going into the second intermission.
  • Alex Pellicci went into the third period with 18 saves and made five more big stops for her team in the first six minutes of the final period.
  • RPI tied the game with a powerplay goal late in the third period to force an overtime, the third straight overtime contest for the Crimson. 
 

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Anne Bloomer scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season with a redirection from a Kate Kasica shot, who notched her first career point with the assist
  • Paige Lester scored her second goal of the season with an unassisted breakaway goal in the second period
  • Gabi Davidson Adams scored her third goal in four games
  • Bloomer assisted on the GDA goal and led the team with two points in the contest
  • Kristin Della Rovere and Shannon Hollands also picked up assists
  • Della Rovere also extended her 20-plus faceoff win streak to four games
  • Alex Pellicci made36 saves in the contest to backstop the Crimson defense
  • The sophomore netminder also made a huge, game-saving save as time expired to seal the tie.
 

UP NEXT

Harvard will be back at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center next weekend to host Colgate and Cornell on November 11 and 12. Tickets are still available for both contests that can also be streamed live on ESPN+
