Men's Ice Hockey Scores Six Unanswered Goals to Rally For 6-3 Win at Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Trailing by three midway through the game, Harvard men's ice hockey (11-7-2) scored six unanswered goals to rally for a 6-3 win over Boston College (10-12-4) on Tuesday night (Feb. 1) at Kelley Rink.

The win was Harvard's first over BC since Feb. 12, 2018, and first at Kelley Rink since Nov. 11, 2014. Harvard scored three power play goals on the night to key the comeback.

Junior defenseman Henry Thrun and junior forward Baker Shore each had a goal and an assist, junior defenseman Ryan Siedem added three assists, and senior captain Casey Dornbach had two assists to lead the Crimson attack.

Junior goaltender Mitchell Gibson made 19 saves to earn the win in net.

Trailing 3-2 in the opening minute of third, junior forward John Farinacci completed the comeback from an early three-goal deficit putting in a long rebound off the end boards at :35 mark to tie the game.

Harvard then converted on its golden opportunity to take its first lead on a five-minute major penalty to BC's Matt Argentina for contact to the head at 1:33.

Late in the major power play, Zakary Karpa crashed the net for a rebound at 6:17 to give Harvard its first lead of the night.

Just :19 later, first year defenseman Ian Moore scored his first collegiate goal as the Harvard power play expired, skating into open ice and firing a one-timer through BC goaltender Eric Dop off a feed from Shore to make it 5-3 at 6:36.

Shore sealed the win with an empty net goal at 17:37.

BC got off to a flying start opening the scoring with a goal on its first shot from right outside the crease of the stick of Brandon Kruse at 1:39 of the 1st period.

Patrick Giles added a goal at 7:57 of the opening period on a redirection from the high slot to make it 2-0 BC.

Harvard was not without its own scoring chances, as midway through period, Farinacci was alone in front with just the goalie to beat, but a centering feed from Alex Laferriere slid under his stick.

Midway through the second period, BC's Casey Carreau scored on a redirection in front on a power play at 8:04 to put the home team up three.

Harvard responded on a power play shortly after BC's goal on the man advantage. The Crimson worked the puck down low quickly as Dornbach fed first-year forward Matthew Coronato, who quickly chipped a shot past Dop on the short side to cut the BC lead to 3-1.

Then Harvard scored another power play goal late in the period, as Thrun skated off the half wall and beat Dop between the pads at 19:30 to make it a one-goal game heading to the third.
