Philip Conigliaro won at 165 pounds and remained undefeated in dual competition, but Harvard University wrestling fell at Columbia University, 27-3, on Friday night in an Ivy League and EIWA dual meet at Levien Gymnasium.

Competing in its fourth straight Ivy League dual, the Crimson (1-5, 1-5 EIWA, 0-4 Ivy) remained within three points of the Lions (3-8, 3-5 EIWA, 1-3 Ivy) in seven of its nine setbacks alongside its win at 165 pounds.

Conigliaro – ranked No. 15 at 165 pounds according to Intermat – defeated Joshua Ogunsanya – ranked No. 19 at 165 – via a 5-3 decision. Conigliaro – ranked No. 7 at 165 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings – improved to a team-best 14-4 on the season and 3-0 in dual competition.
Harvard Highlights
- Sophomore Philip Conigliaro – ranked No. 15 at 165 pounds – earned a 5-3 win over Columbia's Joshua Ogunsanya – ranked No. 19 at 165. Conigliaro opened the match with a takedown, taking a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period. In the second period, Conigliaro scored an escape and a takedown to pull ahead 5-2 through two and allowed just an escape in the final frame.
- Conigliaro – ranked No. 7 at 165 pounds in the latest NCAA RPI rankings -- improved to 14-4 on the season, adding to his team-leading point total. He moved to 3-0 in dual competition. Conigliaro bettered his career record to 44-11.
- In the match's opening bout at 184 pounds, first-year Luke Rada battled Columbia's Brian Bonino, dropping a 3-1 decision in sudden victory. After each wrestler scored an escape in regulation, Bonino tallied a takedown in overtime.
- At 125 pounds, junior Beau Bayless challenged No. 31 Joe Manchio before falling, 3-2. Bayless notched an escape in the second stanza to take a 1-0 lead and posted another escape just before the conclusion of the third period prior to Manchio holding on for the win.
- Facing No. 19 Matt Kazimir at 141 pounds, junior Michael Jaffe pushed his opponent before dropping a 2-0 decision. Jaffe kept the match scoreless through two periods prior to Kazimir registering an escape and a stall warning point in the third.
- At 157 pounds, junior Trevor Tarsi pushed Columbia's Andrew Garr before dropping a 4-2 decision. Tarsi scored a pair of escapes to remain within 3-2 in the third period prior to Garr hanging on for the decision.
- Closing the match at 174 pounds, sophomore Joshua Kim scored four points in the third period, but Columbia's Nick Fine held on for a 7-5 decision. Kim remained within 2-1 entering the final frame and tied the match at 4-4 with a reversal before Fine countered with a reversal and a point for riding time.
