BOSTON, Mass. – A late second period rally was not enough for Harvard men's ice hockey (12-8-2) which fell, 4-3 to No. 20 Boston University (15-10-3) in the opening game of the 69th Beanpot.

First-year forward
Matthew Coronato and senior forward
Jack Donato scored in a span of 21 seconds with under two minutes to play in the second period to cut BU's lead to 4-3 heading into the third period.

But BU held the Crimson in check in the final 20 minutes, and despite over two minutes of extended 6-on-5 with
Mitchell Gibson (29 saves) out of the net and plenty of offensive zone time, the Crimson could not find the tying score.

After a quiet start to open the game, the two teams traded three goals in a span of just under 3:00, with BU emerging with a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

Logan Cockerill scored at 13:52 from in close to give the Terriers the lead.

But Harvard responded on the next shift, as first-year forward
Matthew Coronato threaded a nifty pass down the middle to senior captain
Casey Dornbach, who hit the back bar with a beautiful shot from the slot at 14:27 to tie the game.

BU took the lead on Jay O'Brien's power play goal from the right circle at 16:31.

The Terriers added another power play goal off the stick of Matt Brown at 4:10 of the 2
nd period to take a two-goal lead.

Then a seeing-eye shot from the point by Ty Gallagher made it a three goal game at 10:58.

Coronato scored a power play goal at 18:16, crashing the net for a rebound off a shot by
Henry Thrun at 18:16.

Then just 21 seconds later on the next shift, Donato hit the top corner on another long rebound off a shot by
