Crouin, Tarek, Scherl Represent Men’s Squash on CSA’s First-Team All-America

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard's Victor Crouin, Marwan Tarek and Samuel Scherl were each recognized for their outstanding individual performances during the 2021-22 season with spots on the College Squash Association's First-Team All-America, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The trio was dominate at the top of the lineup for the Crimson, helping lead Harvard to a 15-1 record and its third-straight CSA Team National Championship.

Harvard has had at least one First-Team All-America selection every season dating back to 1956-57, a stretch of 65 seasons.

The Crimson's three first-team honorees are the most of any CSA member institution. It is the third-consecutive season in which Harvard has landed three representatives on the list.

For both Crouin and Tarek, 2021-22 marks their third stint as First-Team All-America selections. Scherl, meanwhile, makes the jump to the top honors after being named to the second-team back in 2019-20. On the year, the group went a combined 42-2 as individuals, including a collective 9-0 record during the Crimson's run to the Potter Cup. All three were awarded First-Team All-Ivy accolades.

Crouin, who won the second Individual National Championship of his collegiate career this March, tallied a 13-1 mark at the top of Harvard's lineup. The senior rallied from 2-1 down in the Pool Cup Final to beat Princeton's Youssef Ibrahim for the title, avenging his lone regular season loss in the process.

Tarek boasted a 14-1 record on the season playing primarily at the No. 2 spot in the lineup for Harvard. The junior dominated at the Potter Cup, winning all three of his matches by a score of 3-0, before going on to reach the quarterfinal round at the Pool Cup.

Scherl finished a perfect 15-0 for the Crimson in his senior season, including a 13-0 record at the third position. The senior earned the First-Team All-American distinction by virtue of his triumph in the consolation draw at the Pool Cup, where he reeled off three-consecutive wins in the back draw.
