Baseball Falls at UCLA in Series Opener

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Sophomore left fielder Chris Snopek and junior first baseman Logan Bravo each tallied three hits, but Harvard University baseball fell at UCLA, 25-2, in the series opener on Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
 
Opening the final series of its eight-game, 10-day road trip to the state of California, the Crimson (7-6) fell behind 10-0 after the first inning as the host Bruins (11-6) took the first contest of the three-game set.
 
Snopek and Bravo each posted three-hit games for the second time this season. First-year second baseman George Cooper and sophomore shortstop Jake Berger each drove in a run for the Crimson.
 
UCLA scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first and tallied 10 more runs between the second and third frames before the Crimson plated a run in the top of the fifth. 

Harvard Highlights

  • Sophomore left fielder Chris Snopek finished the game 3-for-4, extending his hit streak to five games. He has tallied seven multi-hit games, including two 3-hit games this season. Snopek has notched hits in 11 of the Crimson's 13 games this year.
  • Junior first baseman Logan Bravo went 3-for-4, pushing his hit streak to five games. He has registered six multi-hit games this year, including two-3-hit games. He has recorded multiple hits in four straight games.
  • First-year second baseman George Cooper hit an RBI double in the game, moving his hit streak to five games. He notched his third double of the year.
  • Sophomore shortstop Jake Berger posted an RBI single.
  • Sophomore right fielder Ben Rounds compiled a hit and a run scored while junior center fielder Hunter Baldwin scored a run.

Game Notes

  • Harvard posted nine hits in the game. The Crimson has recorded nine or more hits in five straight games.
  • Harvard moved to 3-3 thus far on its eight-game, 10-day West Coast swing.
  • The Crimson fell to 1-6 all-time vs. UCLA.
