CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Compton Cup will stay at Newell Boathouse after the No. 5 Harvard Men's Heavyweight Rowing team outpaced the No. 9 Princeton Tigers on Saturday during their race on the Charles River. The Crimson claimed victory by a 6.0-second margin in the first race against the rival Tigers since the 2019 season.
The first varsity crew is off to a 3-0 start in the 2022 campaign and increased its win-streak against the Tigers to four races. The Crimson's four other crews also defeated their opposition, to give Harvard five race victories in the dual.
The fifth varsity boat led off in the regatta, recording a time of 7:00.4 to win its race by more than 15 seconds. Harvard's 2V crew so posted a win by a double-digit margin, with a 10.5-second victory. The third varsity eight posted a 5.9 second win and the fourth varsity crew rowed away with an 18.5-second victory.
UP NEXT
The Crimson will be back on the Charles River next weekend to take on Penn and Navy in a battle for the Adams Cup. The races are set to take place next Saturday, April 23 and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
