PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Harvard softball team returned to action on Saturday for the first time since April 11, and defeated Brown on the road, 2-1, in Game 1 of a scheduled doubleheader. With the win, the Crimson moved to 16-15 overall and 10-3 in the Ivy League, while the Bears dropped to 12-22 (4-12 Ivy).

Allison Heffley, who initially reached on a single to shortstop.
Â
Brown leveled the score in the bottom of the fifth inning when Laurel Moody led off the frame with a solo shot.
Anna Reed, however, got out of the inning without further damage as the game moved to the late stages.
Â
Harvard applied pressure in the top of the sixth when
Madi Mays walked, with
Ella Lee pinch-running, and
Mackenzie Tyler getting the free pass in consecutive at-bats.
Trina Hoang then reached on a muffed throw by Nicole Kim at second base, allowing Lee to score what wound up being the go-ahead run.
Â
Reed then sent the Bears down in order in the sixth, and after issuing a leadoff walk to begin the seventh, the sophomore got three straight outs to log her seventh complete game.
Game 2 at Brown is slated to begin at approximately 3 p.m. ET.
