Men’s Golf’s Saavedra-Davila Receives All-Ivy Second-Team Nod, Ma Earns Academic Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. - Following his T6 performance at last weekend's Ivy Championships, Harvard first-year Diego Saavedra-Davila was named to the All-Ivy Second Team, it was announced on Tuesday. The conference also revealed its All-Academic honorees, with sophomore Brian Ma serving as the Crimson's representative.

In his first collegiate season, Saavedra-Davila posted a scoring average 74.17 playing in all seven of the team's stroke-play events. In his first college tournament, the native of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico fired a 3-under par, 67 in round one.

At the 2022 Ivy League Championships, the first-year was Harvard's top individual finisher, tying for sixth after rounds of 75-69-78. Saavedra-Davila's 2-under par second round was one of just two rounds below 70 during the Championship, matching Ma. He was a counting score of the Crimson in all three rounds, helping the team to third place, and led the entire field with 12 birdies on the weekend.

For his part, Ma enjoyed an outstanding sophomore campaign, ending the season with the top scoring average in the Ivy League at 71.89. The Milpitas, Calif. native posted four top-three finishes in 2021-22, including his first career win at the Lehigh University Invitational.
