Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Georgetown Intercollegiate

WESTFIELD, N.J. – The Harvard men's golf team closed out its fall season with a strong second place finish at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. First-year Reese Jensen led the Crimson on the course, tying for the top spot in the field but finishing as the tournament's runner-up after a card-off. Harvard also had three other players finish in the top 25, with Barry ZhangIeuan Jones, and Isaac Ahn placing 10th and tied for 20th (Jones and Ahn). The second-place team finish marked Harvard's best result of the fall season, highlighted by several standout performances.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the first time in program history the Crimson traveled to the Echo Lake Country Club in New Jersey to compete in the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Harvard faced a strong field featuring teams from up and down the east coast. The original 54-hole stroke play format was shortened to 36 holes due to weather conditions.

The Crimson had a strong start to the tournament, posting a team score of 302 (+18) in the opening round, sitting in third place after 18 holes. Jensen led the team with a round of 71 (E) followed by Jones at 75 (+4) and Ahn at 76 (+5). Zhang rounded out the team scoring with an 80 (+9).

The Crimson carried momentum into the final round, posting a team score of 295 (+11) to secure the second-place finish. Zhang led the round with the teams lowest score of the day, a 70 (-1). Jensen continued his strong play with a 72 (+1) to lock in the T1 finish. Ahn contributed a 76 (+5) and Jones added a 77 (+6).
 

Harvard Highlights

  • The Crimson tied for the second most birdies in the tournament with 20.
  • Reese Jensen earned the highest finish of his career, tying for first with a tournament score of 143 (+1).
  • The first-year led the field in par-5 scoring average at 4.17 (-5) and tied for the most birdies (9). Jensen also ranked T6 in par-4 scoring average at 4.23 (+5).
  • Barry Zhang recorded a top 10 finish, placing 10th with a tournament score of 150 (+8), and ranked T3 in par-4 scoring average (4.14 (+3)).
  • Isaac Ahn secured his first top 25 finish on the year, tying for 20th alongside Ieuan Jones, both at 152 (+10).
