HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crimson started the Hamptons Intercollegiate on a high note, as Harvard combined for a score of (289) to finish the first round in sixth place. - Ma caught fire on the back nine, finishing the latter half of the Maidstone Club with no bogeys, a birdied on the par-five 13th hole and an eagle on the par-five 15th hole to score a 67 (-5) on the first 18 holes of the tournament.
- Along with Ma, first-year Alex Zhang also found success in the first round, logging a team-best four birdies across the opening 18. On the back nine, Zhang posted birdies on four of the last six holes, finishing with birdies on the 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th holes.
- In the second round, Ma held steady, shooting a 73 (+1) to remain within the top 10 after recording a trio of birdies. Zhang would also stay consistent, as he would once again card birdies on the 13th, 16th and 17th holes and lead Harvard in birdies with four on his way to shooting a 73 (+1).
- The third and final round from the Maidstone Club saw Ma once again thrive, ending his time at the Hamptons Intercollegiate with a 71 (-1) to secure his second place showing. Ma led the team with six birdies in the final round, including back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes and another combo of birdies on the 12th and 13th holes.
