Women's Water Polo

No. 19 Women's Water Polo Readies for Four-Game Weekend at Home

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 22 Harvard women's water polo (17-5, 5-2 CWPA) will play a quartet of CWPA conference games this weekend at Blodgett Pool. The Crimson will take on No. 19 Princeton (18-7, 7-2 CWPA) at 11:00 a.m. and RV Bucknell (9-13, 3-7 CWPA) at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9th. Returning on Sunday, Harvard will match up with Saint Francis (PA) (9-16, 2-6 CWPA) at 9:00 a.m. and No. 7 Michigan (20-8, 8-0 CWPA) at 12:00 p.m.

What to Know
  • Harvard comes in with a 17-5 record including a 5-2 mark in CWPA conference play. The Crimson is currently ranked at No. 19 in the nation while Michigan comes in at No. 7 and Princeton at No. 21.
  • The Crimson took down Princeton on the road this past weekend by a score of 10-8. The win snapped a 29-game losing streak against the Tigers and marked the first victory over Princeton since 2004.
  • Harvard picked up victories over Bucknell (8-7, OT) and Saint Francis (11-4) in February to open its conference schedule.
  • Harvard suffered a 12-10 defeat at the hands of Michigan this past weekend, dropping its first neutral site game of the season (7-1).
  • Senior Inde Halligan led the Crimson with five goals this past weekend, netting a hat trick against Michigan before adding two goals and three steals in the win over Princeton. Halligan earned CWPA Player of the Week for the first time in her career for the performance.
  • Junior goalie Zoe Banks earned CWPA Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season following the win over Princeton. Sophomore Sasha Constandse was named CWPA Rookie of the Week, giving the Crimsion its first sweep of the three awards since January 2019.
  • Junior Jaiden Miller netted a hat trick against Michigan this past weekend while junior Evan Tingler added a pair of goals and three assists.
At the Helm
Ted Minnis enters his 12th year as The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach in 2021-22. Minnis has led the women's program to new heights, including a program-record 24 wins in 2016.  He holds an overall record of 193-134 (.590) with the women's team through 11+ seasons.
 
Up Next
The Crimson will close out the regular season with a road matchup against Brown on Saturday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m. before preparing for the CWPA Championships on April 22-24, hosted by Bucknell University.
