CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University women's rugby alumna
Jenny Kronish '19 has re-signed with the London Harlequins of the Allianz Premier 15s League after competing with the team during the second half of the 2021-22 season.
"I am truly thrilled to re-sign with Quins," Kronish said in the club's press release announcing the signing. "I can't wait to get back in with the girls and continue working to be the best teammate I can be. My short time at the end of last season was just a taste and I'm hungry for more!"
Harlequins posted a 12-6 record in 2021-22 finishing in fourth place in the league table and reaching the semifinals before falling to Saracens.
During her time at Harvard, Kronish earned NIRA All-America honors as both a junior in 2017-18 and a senior in 2018-19. Kronish helped the Crimson reach the NIRA National Championship title game in 2018 as well as win Ivy 7s titles in both 2017 and 2019. As a senior, she helped Harvard tally a 19-5 overall record and entered the USA 15s Women's National Team player pool. She is currently on the training squad for the 2021 Rugby World Cup set to be played in October and November 2022.
As part of the Allianz Premier 15s League, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has announced an ambitious ten-year strategy to professionalize the Premier 15s. The ambition is to transform the league into the most competitive, progressive, and sustainable domestic competition in the world with a new operating company to be established to operate the league from the 2023-24 season. Up to £220m is slated to be invested in the professional women's game over ten years with applications to be part of the 10-team league opening later this year.
"Our collective intention is to create a league which will be the leading domestic league in the world and will ultimately be the first professional women's domestic league globally," Sue Day, RFU Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, said.
