CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis beat their local rivals, Boston College, 4-3 on Sunday, January 22 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Crimson have now won all three games in their opening weekend.
Facing off against a tough Boston College team, Harvard would begin the match in doubles. The Crimson and Eagles would split the first two games, meaning the winner of the doubles point would come down to
Maxi Duncan and
Sophia Ho, who faced off against BC's 37
th ranked duo in the country, Marice Aguiar and Laura Lopez. However, Harvard's duo of Duncan and Ho would prevail 6-4, giving Harvard a 1-0 lead after the doubles matches.
In singles, Duncan and Ho once again led the way. Duncan defeated BC's Laura Lopez 6-3, 4-0 (ret) and Ho was victorious against BC's Sophia Edwards 6-1, 6-0.
Angel You would provide Harvard the last point they needed to secure the win, defeating BC's Stephanie Sanchez 6-4, 6-2.
