CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior
Alessandro Arlotti scored a goal in the 22
nd minute as Harvard University men's soccer earned a 1-1 draw with Boston University on Tuesday night at Jordan Field in the second contest of a three-game homestand.
In a contest broadcast on both NESN and ESPN+, the Crimson (2-3-6) drew level on Arlotti's free-kick goal after the visiting Terriers (7-2-3) tallied the contest's first goal in the 10
th minute.
Arlotti scored his team-best third goal of the season and recorded his 17
th career goal.
Harvard Highlights
- Junior Alessandro Arlotti increased his team-best totals to three goals and 10 points on the year. He now has 17 career goals and 52 career points. Arlotti posted game highs in shots (four) and shots on goal (two). He paced the Crimson in minutes played (78) in the match.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Lucian Wood made two saves and now has 35 saves on the year.
- For the match, Harvard led in shots (12-7) and corner kicks (6-5) while both teams finished with three shots on goal apiece. In the second half, the Crimson held advantages In shots (9-3), shots on goal (2-0), and corners (6-3).
- Harvard worked 20 student-athletes into the match, including nine substitutes. First-year Yuta Hata and sophomore Rustin Khosravi each made his collegiate debut.
How It Happened
- In the 10th minute, BU opened the game's scoring as Alex Bonnington netted a goal on a counter.
- Harvard equalized in the 22nd minute behind a goal off a free kick from Arlotti. After first-year Andreas Savva drew a foul just outside the box, Arlotti drove a shot into the upper right-hand corner of the goal.
- Wood made a pair of saves in the first half to help keep the Crimson on level terms.
- Arlotti nearly gave the Crimson the lead in the 51st minute as he forced a turnover and then sent a shot on target from inside the box.
- Savva drove a shot on target in the 55th minute as the Crimson continued to pressure the Terriers.
- Harvard generated several chances down the stretch, registering five shots and three corner kicks in the final 20 minutes.
