Women’s Volleyball Hits the Road Amid Best Start Ever

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team (11-3, 4-1 Ivy) will close out the first round of Ivy competition while traveling to two more conference contests at Ivy League no. 1 Yale and Ivy League no. 4 Brown on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14. Both games will be aired on ESPN+.

Harvard has started its first 14 games 11-3 for the first time in program history and will look to continue to make history with two more conference games on the road this weekend. Harvard will start the two-game campaign in New Haven, Conn. at 7 p.m. at Yale on Friday and finish the weekend with a game in Providence, R.I. at 5 p.m. at Brown on Saturday. 

What to Know

• Harvard has started the 2023 season 11-3 after winning seven non-conference games and starting the Ivy League campaign 4-1 with wins against Dartmouth, Columbia, Princeton and Penn and one loss to Cornell.
Ashley Wang is the NCAA leader in triple-doubles, having posted six throughout the 2023 season. She is one shy of the Harvard record, which is seven in one season. Her most recent triple-double came in five sets against Princeton, where she put up outstanding numbers of 17 kills, 19 assists and 18 digs.  
• The 2023 Harvard Volleyball team was ranked fifth in the Ivy League preseason poll but now sits second in the standings after starting 4-1 in conference play. The team in first is Yale, who is 5-0 to start. Harvard will hope to sit atop the standings with a potential victory in New Haven on Friday.
• After the weekend sweep of Princeton and Penn, Harvard swept the Ivy League weekly awards as well, with Wang winning Player of the Week for her second time and Ryleigh Patterson winning Rookie of the Week for her second time as well.
• Harvard trails 27-48 in the all-time series against the Yale Bulldogs and will look to bring the series one game closer on Friday. In 2022, the Crimson fell to the Bulldogs twice, winning one set in the matchup at home.  
• Harvard trails the Brown Bears as well, 38-43 all-time. The Crimson have a chance to bring the series closer to even this season starting on Saturday. In 2022, Harvard fell to the Bears twice.

Up Next

The Crimson will start to play conference teams for the second time this season on Oct. 21, with a match against Dartmouth at home. The match will be aired on ESPN+.
