Women's Volleyball's Nwabueze Earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard women's volleyball's Kayla Nwabueze has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. This is Nwabueze's second time winning the award, taking home the first on Sept. 21.

The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native helped power Harvard past Dartmouth in a five-set marathon last Saturday afternoon. Nwabueze recorded new career highs in the win after logging 20 kills on 56 attacks, surpassing her previous highs of 13 kills and 48 swings. Her 20 kills were the most of any Crimson player this season and she is the first Harvard attacker with 20 or more kills in a match this year. Nwabueze also added eight digs, two aces, and one block to her career-high 22.5 points. She has now served at least one ace in six consecutive matches and has at least one ace in seven of the last nine matches.

Nwabueze and the Crimson return home to the Malkin Athletic Center this weekend to host Brown and Yale on Oct. 30 and 31, respectively. Friday's match is set for 6 p.m. and Saturday's is set for 5 p.m., with both matches being available to stream on ESPN+.
