CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior
Ale Gutierrez scored two goals – including the game-winning penalty kick in the 90
th minute – as Harvard University men's soccer defeated Princeton University, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Jordan Field in its home regular season finale.
Playing on Senior Day, the Crimson (5-4-6, 3-1-2 Ivy) took a lead in the 49
th minute and re-gained the lead in the 90
th minute on Gutierrez's penalty after the visiting Tigers (4-8-3, 1-3-2 Ivy) equalized in the 88
th minute.
Gutierrez posted a brace for the second time in his career, helping the Crimson remain atop the Ivy League standings with 11 points.

Harvard Highlights
- Senior Ale Gutierrez scored two goals in a game for the second time in his career, tying his career high. He netted his ninth and 10th career goals and now has 24 career points. Gutierrez increased his season totals to three goals and eight points.
- Junior Alessandro Arlotti notched his team-high sixth assist of the season and improved his team-high point total to 16 points on the year. He now has 20 career assists and 58 career points.
- Among the Crimson's field players, senior Jan Riecke and junior Ludovico Rollo each played the full 90 minutes. Riecke has played 1,333 of a possible 1,350 minutes on the season.
- Sophomore Ethan Veghte tallied a game-high three shots.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Lucian Wood made four saves. He made four or more saves for the eighth time this season.
- Harvard improved to 9-2-5 in its last 16 Ivy games.
- The Crimson moved to 4-1-2 in its last seven contests and to 5-2-4 in its last 11 games.
- Harvard allowed one goal or fewer for the eighth time in its last nine games and for the 12th time in 15 games in 2023.
How It Happened
- Following a scoreless first half, the Crimson took the lead early in the second half.
- In the 49th minute, Arlotti won the ball and evaded multiple Princeton defenders before sending a cross across the face of goal where an oncoming Gutierrez drove the ball into the back of the net.
- The Tigers equalized in the 88th minute as Will Francis knocked in a shot off headers from Jack Jasinski and Walker Gillespie.
- Harvard countered in the 90th minute. After first-year Dylan Tellado drew a penalty, Gutierrez convereted the penalty kick with less than a minute to play in regulation.
