CARY, NC – Rachel Arbitman and
Iveta Daujotaite of Harvard women's tennis began their run at the ITA All-American Championships with a victory in the opening round of the doubles main draw today.
The Crimson duo faced off against Maria Berlanga and Ana Naranjo Martinez (Tulsa) in the round of 32 this afternoon. Arbitman and Daujotaite looked strong from the beginning and was ultimately able to pull out the match in straight sets. In the first set the Harvard pairing was about to avoid a tiebreaker and pull ahead with a 7-5 victory. The Crimson then finished off the Tulsa opponents with a strong final game while up 5-4 to complete the victory and secure their spot in the next round.
The Crimson will return to the court tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET, looking to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. Arbitman and Daujotaite will face off against Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina (Oklahoma).
