CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Dawn Dill has been named a Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving assistant coach,
Amanda Kulik, The Costin Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Swimming & Diving, announced today. Dill's arrival in Cambridge rounds out Kulik's first coaching staff as the 2023-24 campaign draws near.
"We are thrilled to welcome Dawn to the coaching staff," Kulik said. "She brings a wealth of sport-specific knowledge, head-coaching wisdom and tremendous enthusiasm. Her coaching philosophy aligns beautifully with our team culture and vision. We are grateful to have her onboard!"
As mentioned, Dill brings head-coaching experience with her to the Crimson, but joins the program after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Wellesley College. During her five-season stint with the Blue, Dill helped the program establish 29 records, while coaching its first All-American (2022) in 10 years and guiding its 200 medley relay to a 2023 NCAA Division III qualification mark, a feat not seen at Wellesley in 30 years. The Blue was also stellar in the classroom during Dill's tenure, with 51 athletes earning NEWMAC All-Academic Team honors.
Prior to her time at Wellesley, Dill was the men's and women's swimming and diving head coach at nearby MIT. In 12 seasons, Dill was at the helm of a pair of programs that enjoyed success not only at the conference level, but nationally. The Engineers captured 10 NEWMAC team championships, with the men finishing in the top 10 at the NCAA Division III Championships eight times and the women posting top-10 efforts on four different occasions. The three-time NEWMAC Swimming Coach of the Year also coached over 125 All-America performances and served as an associate professor in the department of physical education.
Dill first became a head coach at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Arriving from Smith College where she was as an assistant coach for two seasons (1999-2001), Dill joined the Brewers as a men's and women's assistant for the 2001-02 campaign before being elevated to interim head coach for '02-03. During her time at Vassar, Dill watched 23 records fall and led the women's program to its highest finish at the NYSWCAA Championships.
A graduate of Smith College, Dill was an accomplished swimmer, garnering All-America accolades seven times over the course of her four-year career. She was also an Academic All-American in 1993 and 1994, before earning her bachelor's degree in physiological psychology in 1996. Dill later obtained her master's degree in exercise and sports studies in 2001.
