Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to No. 3 Colgate

CAMBRIDGE, Mass – Harvard women's ice hockey dropped its matchup with No. 3 Colgate tonight at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. The Crimson (0-8-1, 0-8-1 ECACH) fell to the third-ranked Raiders by a score of 10-1, ending its nine-game conference stretch.
 
The Crimson goal came off the stick of Zoe Boosamra, who tallied the first point of goal of her collegiate career in the effort.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Colgate took a 2-0 lead in the first period, tallying a pair of goals at 6:24 and 12:14 into the period.
  • Alex Pellicci made a number of strong saves to keep the game within reach. Gwyn Lapp had two shots on goal pushed away as Harvard would go into the break down two.  
  • The Raiders added three goals in the second frame to build a 5-0 lead in the contest.
  • Ellie Bayard had a pair of good looks on net stopped in the second frame as Harvard was kept off the scoreboard after 40 minutes.
  • Zoe Boosamra scored her first career goal in the third period, an unassisted tally off a steal and score. Boosamra picked off a pass in the Colgate zone and turned to fire a shot from the slot to beat the goalie on the blocker side.
  • The Harvard penalty kill had a great series in the third period, killing off two penalties and holding the Raiders off the scoreboard during a 5-on-3 chance in the period. Pellicci made a series of quality saves during the kill.
  • The Raiders would tack on five more goals in the frame, as the game would end in a 10-1 defeat for the Crimson.
 

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Zoe Boosamra scored her first collegiate goal in the matchup, an unassisted tally in the third period.
  • Gwyn Lapp won a team-high ten faceoffs in the contest.
  • Mia Biotti blocked four shots to lead the team.
  • Bayard, Boosamra and Lapp all recorded two shots on net.
 

UP NEXT

The Crimson will take a pause from ECAC action this week to take on Beanpot rival, Boston University, this Tuesday. Harvard and the Terriers will square off on the ice at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center this Tuesday (Nov. 14) at 7:00 PM. The first nonconference test of the year for Harvard will be streamed live on ESPN+
