No. 19/24 Football Plays Host to Penn on Saturday in Senior Day Contest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - No. 19/24 Harvard is set to play host to Penn in its final home game of the 2023 campaign. Prior to the 1 p.m. ET contest, which will also air on ESPN+, the Crimson will recognize its senior class.

- The contest between the Crimson and Quakers will have major implications in the race for the Ivy League title. Harvard is currently alone in first place with Penn sitting one game back, along with Yale, Dartmouth and Princeton.

- With a victory over Penn, Harvard will lock up at least a share of the Ivy League title. The championship would be the Crimson's 18th and first since 2015. The crown would also propel Tim Murphy, The Thomas Stephenson Family Head Coach for Harvard Football, into a tie with Yale's Carm Cozza for most Ivy titles with 10.

- Harvard finds itself alone at the top of the league standings after it defeated Columbia in New York City, 38-24, on Saturday. The Crimson received a stellar effort in all three phases of the game, helping it lead wire-to-wire.

- Senior safety Kaleb Moody was particularly good on defense and special teams vs. the Lions, recording the first two interceptions of his career and blocking a punt, which he returned for a touchdown. His two-interception performance was Harvard's first since James Herring vs. Penn on Nov. 13, 2021. For his effort in New York City, Moody landed on the FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention list.

- Quarterback Jaden Craig earned his first career start at Columbia and did not disappoint. The sophomore completed 13 of his 18 passing attempts for 264 yards and one touchdown. His 264 yards and his 72.2 completion percentage were team season bests. His one TD, meanwhile, was an 83-yarder to Tim Dowd, which was the Crimson's longest passing play and passing touchdown of 2023. Craig also added 34 rushing yards and a touchdown.

- Harvard is off to a 7-1 start, which is its best since starting with an identical record to begin the 2016 campaign. With seven wins overall and four conference victories, the Crimson has surpassed last season's overall total and matched its Ivy total from 2022, respectively.

- After going 1-4 at home last season, the Crimson has turned around its fortunes, winning all five games at Harvard Stadium in 2023. The Crimson will be in search of its first undefeated home campaign since 2014. Harvard will also be looking for its first 6-0 home season since 2012.

- The Crimson has picked up milestone victories the last two weeks and will be in search of a third this week vs. Penn. First vs. Dartmouth, Harvard provided Murphy his 136th Ivy win, which made him the Ivy's all-time leader in conference wins. Then at Columbia, Harvard won its 900th game in program history. This week vs. the Quakers, the Crimson will look to secure Murphy's 200th win as Harvard's head coach.

- Harvard held firm at No. 19 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, which was released on Monday. The Crimson, meanwhile, re-entered the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll after a two-week hiatus, checking in at No. 24.

- Sitting at 7-1 on the season, Harvard is one of six teams in the FCS with one or fewer losses. The others are No. 1/1 South Dakota State (9-0), No. 9/T-13 Florida A&M (8-1), No. 2/2 Furman (8-1), No. 3/3 Montana (8-1), and No. 7/7 North Carolina Central (8-1). Before its loss at Princeton, Harvard and South Dakota State were the last two undefeated teams at the FCS level.

- Entering the week with seven victories, Harvard leads all New England teams (FBS, FCS, NFL) in wins despite beginning its season later than the rest. Ranking second to Harvard  in wins is Holy Cross with six.
