Women’s Volleyball to Close Out Regular Season on the Road

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team (14-7, 7-5 Ivy) will close out the 2023 regular season with matches at Penn on 7 p.m. on Friday and Princeton at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Both matches will air on ESPN+.

The Crimson have a chance to clinch a spot in the Ivy League Tournament this weekend with a win over the Quakers on Friday. The tournament will be held at Yale from Friday, Nov. 17 to Saturday, Nov. 18.

What to Know

• Harvard is 14-7 on the 2023 season after winning seven non-conference games and going 7-5 in the Ivy League with contests against each team in the league at least once. The matches against Penn and Princeton are the last two of the regular season.
• The Crimson last played Brown and Yale, sweeping the Bears 3-0 and falling to the Bulldogs 3-1. Katie Vorhies led the team in kills and points against Brown while Ashley Wang had a great performance against Yale with 15.5 points.
Ashley Wang and Rocky Aguirre have both recently joined the 1000 club after surpassing the 1000 career assists mark in matches against Cornell and Yale, respectively. Wang has also tied the Harvard single-season record for triple-doubles in one season with seven and will be the sole record holder if she can score an eighth this weekend.
• The Crimson team leads the Ivy League in blocks, having made 208 total blocks with an average of 2.67 blocks per set. In the Crimson's win over Dartmouth, Harvard made 23 blocks, which is the most so far of all Ivy League matches.
• The 2023 Harvard Volleyball team was ranked fifth in the Ivy League preseason poll but now sits tied for third with Brown with their 7-5 records. The top four teams will travel to Yale, the no. 1 seed, to play in the Ivy League Tournament from Nov. 17-18.
• Harvard swept the Quakers of Penn earlier this season by a score of 3-0 at home. In the all-time series, Harvard trails 25-47 but is on a three-game win streak since winning both matches in 2022 as well.
• The Crimson defeated Ivy League No. 2 Princeton in a thrilling five sets on Oct. 6, winning 3-2. Harvard trails Princeton 17-59 in the all-time series but could looks to start the turnaround and gain on the Tigers this season.

The Crimson will await the results of the matches against Penn and Princeton, as well as results across the league, to determine whether they will earn a spot in the Ivy League Tournament from November 17-18. Tournament matches will air on ESPN+.
