Football Earns Three Phil Steele All-America Honors, 19 All-Ivy League Selections

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football earned three All-America honors and 19 All-Ivy League selections from Phil Steele, it was announced today. The Crimson had a fourth-team All-American and a pair of Freshman All-Americans. At the Ivy level, Harvard boasted five first-, second-, and third-team selections, and had four on the fourth-team.

Senior defensive lineman Thor Griffith was named a fourth-team All-American, marking the second straight season in which Harvard has landed a player on the publication's list. The Portsmouth, New Hampshire, native was a third-team selection a season ago along with Truman Jones '23. Griffith was also a Phil Steele Freshman All-American in 2021.

First-years Xaviah Bascon and Damien Henderson, meanwhile, were named to the Freshman All-America squads. Bascon, from nearby Nahant, was selected to the first team as a return specialist, with Henderson, a defensive back, earning a spot on the third team. This marks the first time the Crimson has had two first-years named to a Freshman All-America team.

Griffith also was recognized as an All-Ivy League First-Team pick along with defensive back Ty Bartrum, Shane McLaughlin (RB), Tyler Neville (TE) and Jacob Rizy (OL). The all-conference second team featured Bascon as a kick-returner, Tim Dowd (TE), Austin Gentle (OL), Nate Leskovec (DL), and Matt Hudson (LB).

Landing on the Phil Steele All-Ivy Third Team was Cooper Barkate (WR), Spencer Cassell (OL), Mike Entwistle (OL), Kaleb Moody (DB), and Jack Kirkwood (LS), with Henderson, Logan Bednar (OL), Tyler Huenemann (DL), and Gavin Shipman (DB) being named to the fourth team.

Harvard is coming off a 2023 season in which it won its 18th Ivy League championship. The Crimson finished the season with an 8-2 record overall and a 5-2 mark vs. Ivy competition.
